Why study in Serbia?
There are two different study types in higher education:
organised academic studies in universities, and studies that are applied to the workplace that are arranged at universities or institutions of applied studies.
Universities are independent institutions of higher learning that may provide courses at all levels and types. Different faculties make up universities. Universities must provide courses at all levels of study in three or more academic fields in order to be accredited.
Colleges are autonomous institutions of higher learning that provide foundational, specialised, and master’s degree programmes in one or more fields. Two different sorts of colleges exist:
- offering academic courses are colleges of academic studies.
- Offering courses in applied studies are colleges of applied studies.

Requirements for all applications
A four-year secondary education must be completed, and passing the entrance exam is a prerequisite for admission to bachelor’s and integrated study programmes. It is important to evaluate the precise entrance requirements for the programme a student is interested in since they frequently include specialised expertise in particular subjects.
Typically, entrance tests take place in early July and early September. Both the performance on the entrance exam and the results from the previous level of education determine a candidate’s ranking.
Candidates must go through a process to have their academic qualifications recognised. The higher education institution should get the following documentation from applicants:
- Request form
- Proof of payment of expenses:
- 2 certified photocopies of a foreign higher education document
- 2 copies of translation of the higher education document into the Serbian language
- 2 copies of a diploma course transcript
- 2 copies of the document translation
- 2 copies of a decision by the authorized body on name and/or surname change for persons who have changed their name
After successfully completing a Bachelor programme in a comparable field, admission to a Master programme is permitted. After successfully completing a Master’s programme, applicants may be admitted to a doctoral programme.
Specific programme application requirements are set by higher education institutions. For comprehensive information, get in touch with the student admissions office.
