Visa Requirements To Study In Singapore

Despite the fact that Singapore is a well-known tourist destination on the planet, it continues to draw a large number of international students due to its affluent lifestyle and cutting-edge educational system. Of course, everyone will be drawn to affordable, high-quality education. However, if you are a prospective student looking to enrol in one of Singapore’s premier universities, you should be aware of the visa requirements and additional steps needed.

STUDENT PASS

You must first be aware that in Singapore, a student pass and a student visa are one and the same. Higher Institutes of Learning, or HIL, is the common moniker for universities in Singapore.

Therefore, you must submit an application to the university where you wish to enrol. You will receive an official offer letter from the institute once your admission has been accepted.

After that, you can apply for a student pass to enter Singapore. You should submit an application for a student pass at least one month before the start of your semester or academic year. You will submit your application using SOLAR, which stands for Student’s Pass Online Application and Registration. On behalf of international students, universities will submit applications for Singapore student passes to the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA).

FEES FOR STUDENT PASSES/VISAS:

Processing costs: The ICA charges a non-refundable processing fee of SGD 30 for each application that is received.

Issuance fees: A SGD 60 issuance fee is assessed when a student pass is granted. If you have fulfilled the formalities to obtain a student pass, you are responsible for paying this charge.

As a result, if you work more than 16 hours a week, you do not have an employment pass. If graduate students are using a student pass, the university will sponsor the spouse and children of those students for a social visit pass. They are permitted to stay in Singapore for a maximum of 4 weeks with this pass.
