Great news for Indian students studying in France! On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant development – Indian students pursuing a master’s degree in France will now be granted a long-term post-study visa lasting for five years. PM Modi shared this exciting update during his speech to the Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris.
During his address, PM Modi highlighted the progress made since his last visit to France, where it was agreed that Indian students studying in France would receive a two-year post-study work visa. Now, the duration has been extended to a generous five-year long-term post-study visa for Indian students pursuing a Masters in France.
France has consistently been a preferred destination for study and work among a diverse range of professionals, including scientists, managers, engineers, thinkers, artists, and writers. The country’s vibrant cultural tapestry and deep-rooted heritage enrich daily life, and its unwavering commitment to welcoming international students, coupled with its exceptional education system, make it an enticing choice for higher education.
France offers an extensive range of higher education programs designed to cater to the needs of foreign students, regardless of their proficiency in the French language. These programs accommodate a staggering 2.7 million students, with 14% of them coming from overseas. In terms of international mobility, France holds a prominent position as one of the most desirable destinations for students worldwide, ranking fourth after the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. It is worth highlighting that France distinguishes itself as the foremost choice among non-English-speaking countries for international students.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest among Indian students in pursuing higher studies in France. In 2019, 10,000 Indian students chose France as their educational destination. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, France continued to welcome Indian students and provided them with special assistance during these difficult times.
