How to Get USA Student Visa?
Each year thousands of students flock to United States of America to study in universities.
Universities in USA are considered among the best in the world. They provide high quality
education and promising career opportunities this what make students to choose America as
the student destination. But before you get there you have to go through a process to land in
America as a student.
Following are the steps to acquire student visa in the United States of America;
- Apply and get admission in US university
There are more than 5000 universities in America to choose from to study any course of your
choice at undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctorate level. Choosing University requires lots of
precision like reputation,ranking,fees , course syllabus, faculty and many other things. - Get your i20 from University
Once you are admitted in US university and paid your deposit you will receive i20 certificate
from the US University. - Pay I-901 SEVIS Fee
After you received i20 certificate , You will have to pay SEVIS Fee of USD 350 - Find Nearest US Embassy and fill DS-160 Form
At this stage you have to pay your Non Immigrant visa application form online. You may require
following documents;
● Your passport
● A visa photograph (to upload)
● Form I-20 or DS-2019 (remember, which form you receive depends on whether you are
an F-1/M-1 or J-1 student)
● A travel itinerary (if you’ve already made travel plans to the US)
● The dates of your last five visits to the US (if applicable) and/or evidence of your
international travel history within the past five years
● A resume or CV
● Additional information depending on your purpose for travel - Schedule Visa Interview
After filling DS-160 you have to schedule Visa Interview and pay fees of USD 160 - Attend the Interview
After interview is scheduled you will have to appear for interview. This is most important part of
the visa process. You have to prepare and give satisfactory answers to visa interview officer.
For the visa interview you will have to carry following documents;
● Your passport
● One copy of your visa photograph (this may be required by certain embassies,
particularly if you were unable to upload your visa photograph to your online visa
application)
● Your printed DS-160 confirmation page
● Your printed I-901 SEVIS fee confirmation page
● Your visa application fee payment receipt (this is only required if you paid the application
fee before your interview)
● Official transcripts from colleges/universities you’ve attended
● Diplomas/degrees from high schools/colleges/universities you’ve attended
● Standardized test scores (if required by your US school)
● Proof of sufficient funds
● Proof of your intent to depart the US at the end of your program - Visa Issued or Rejected
After the Visa interview you will be notified whether your visa is accepted or Rejected. If your
visa is accepted you will have to collect you stamped passport with US Visa. Now you are ready
to fly to United States of America for study
