Subclass 500 is student visa granted to international students on successful application. Sub class visa helps you to stay in Australia for the duration of your study which is up to 5years. With this visa your dependents can stay with you in Australia for duration of your study.
Requirements to apply for the Student Visa( subclass 500)
- You must be accepted and enrolled in Australian University
- Confirmation of Enrollment : You must have paid the Deposit and receive Confirmation of Enrollment(COE). Student receive COE letter after they have paid initial fees payment to university and then university confirm your enrollment and grants you COE certificate.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency: To prove this you have to clear one of the approved English language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE.
- Genuine Temporary Entrant(GTE): GTE is written statement which states that you will only come to Australia for a temporary period of study.
- Proof of Sufficient Fund: Students have to show proof of sufficient fund through bank statement, loan as evidence for 1 year. The calculation is generally like this;
Total Fund Requirement = University Fees + Living Expense + Travel Cost
For Example if Fees is AUD $28000 , Living Expense to show is AUD $21041 and Cost of Travel is AUD$2000 then total fund requirement will be;
Total Fund Requirement= 28000+21041+2000=AUD $51041
- Overseas Student Health Care Cover (OSHC) : This is health insurance cover which international student will need to purchase. This will help you to pay for your medical expenses while you are studying in the Australia.
- Medical Certificate: Before you apply for student visa for Australia you will have to undergo Health Check Up in India to confirm that you don’t have any disease and fit to arrive in Australia.
- Character Certificate: This is Police clearance certificate that you need to get from local police authorities in India that you have no criminal records here.
